New Creek Bridges to Boost Tourism and Economic Growth
Maharashtra witnessed a significant development in transportation infrastructure on Sunday, October 13th, 2024. Chief minister Eknath Shinde inaugurated the north channel of Thane Creek Bridge 3, easing travel between Mumbai and Navi Mumbai. Additionally, he laid the foundation stones for seven new creek bridges along the Konkan coast, aiming to improve connectivity across the region.
Thane Creek Bridge 3 Opens Northbound Lane
The newly opened north channel of Thane Creek Bridge 3 is a three-lane bridge dedicated to northbound traffic from Mumbai to Pune. This addition is expected to significantly reduce traffic congestion on the busy Sion-Panvel highway. Work on the southbound lane from Pune to Mumbai is progressing rapidly and is expected to be completed soon. The total project cost for Thane Creek Bridge 3 is Rs 559 crore, with a length of 3,180 metres.
Seven New Creek Bridges to Enhance Konkan Connectivity
The groundbreaking ceremony for seven new creek bridges marked another major milestone in the state's infrastructure development.
