Karnataka Completes, Tamil Nadu On Track for 2025
The ambitious Bengaluru-Chennai Expressway (BCE) project, designed to reduce travel time between Bengaluru and Chennai, is progressing with mixed outcomes across states. While Karnataka has completed its 72-kilometre segment, Tamil Nadu’s 105.7-kilometre portion remains a work in progress. The expressway in Tamil Nadu stretches from Irungattukottai near Chennai to Gudipala in Andhra Pradesh, bypassing major towns and connecting key industrial areas. Despite ongoing construction, 65 per cent of the Tamil Nadu portion has been completed, with final completion projected by August 2025.
Construction Status by Segment
Each section of the Tamil Nadu portion of the expressway is advancing at different rates. The segment from Walajapet to Arakkonam, spanning 24.5 kilometres, shows the most progress, with over 84 per cent of the work completed.
